Jan Michaels - Weekdays, 3pm till 6pm

If you know anything about me, you know that I am a HUGE Celine Dion fan.
Well, my parents and I had the opportunity to meet her almost 15 years after I first became a fan.  New Orleans, January 10, 2009.

My last minute gift suggestions...
Wednesday 12-22-2010 10:41am CT
This isn't from another website or from someone else's thoughts... this is just my list of some good last minute gift items.  Hope it helps.

1)  digital photo frame - any age - and to make it a little extra personal, go ahead and buy a media card and load it up with some photos of your choosing.  Especially load a card if this gift is for parents or grandparents.  They usually aren't comfortable with loading pictures on it themselves.  But, everyone loves looking at pictures of themselves with family and friends.

2)  Not digitally savvy?  Grab some family photos and put together a few pages of a scrap book or photo album for someone.  You don't have to fill it up.  They can finish it.  But it's a great gift item that anyone will enjoy.

3)  an itunes gift card - well, this does narrow it down to only folks with itunes or an iphone, but it can be used to purchase music or the latest, coolest apps.  Good for the hard to shop for teen.

4)  a little happy for a neighbor?  This is ESPECIALLY good if they got you something for Christmas and you didn't have anything for them.  You can give this AFTER Christmas and still look like you had it all planned out.  How about a couple of plastic champagne glasses and a bottle of champagne.  If they aren't drinkers, then get a bottle of sparkling grape juice.  Put it in a bag, tie a ribbon on it and leave it at their door.  Maybe put some bottle rockets or noise makers in the bag, too.  A nice holiday "happy."

5)  I am not opposed at ALL to giving money.  Who doesn't like money?  It is something that everyone can use.  Some people say that it's not "special" enough.  WHATEVER!  Do you really think the 1,000th chocolate chip cookie of the season is SPECIAL?  A nice card with a $20 bill in it... or more... no one will turn their nose up to that!

6)  a plate of baked goods is nice in some cases, especially if they have a lot of company coming over... But have you ever thought about actually baking a casserole for them to enjoy on Christmas Day?  Always appreciated!

7)  and don't shy away from gift cards.  If they bought a new house or are doing some remodeling, a Lowe's or Home Depot gift card is GREAT!  A restaurant gift card is good.  Maybe even a Visa or Am Ex gift card.  That way they can buy whatever they want, basically, where EVER they want.  Or even use it to pay a bill.

8)  and for the person who has EVERYTHING, make a donation to a charity in their honor.  Good Samaritan Center, CARA, ARF or MARL.  All of these non profits are hurting right now and could use the extra money.  Think on it for a minute.  Find something THEY care about and donate it there.  If they love animals, then by all means, donate to an animal shelter.  If they are a breast cancer survivor, then donate to the Am Cancer Society in THEIR honor.

Those are just a few suggestions that always make people happy.

Hope you and your family and friends have a WONDERFUL holiday season.  Please be safe and keep your heart and mind open to embrace whatever the season brings your way.  There is joy if you want to find it.
Remember others.  Say a prayer of thanksgiving.  Say a prayer for someone hurting.  Remember our troops.  Hold a door open for someone.  Let someone get in line before you.  Go to a candlelight service.  Reflect and embrace and rejoice!

You can find it, I promise you!

Merry Christmas!

I'm fortunate that I come from a long line of thick haired (and thick HEADED) family.  But, some aren't quite so fortunate.  I ran across this article from AOL and thought I would share it in case you can benefit from some of the tips.
